Check out what arrived at Casa Hobgoblinn tonight! A box of "obscure grooviness" from [livejournal.com profile] nwhepcat! Yummy snack-like things, a very pink frisbee, a pen and pencil set, a cool card, A lovely feathered piece of art, very colorful, and best of all a Real Fairy Wand. The penguins were indeed a nice touch-- thanks for pointing that out. Did I forget anything? At any rate, it was a wonderful homecoming present. Glad I got it this week and not next, when I wouldn't be here to get it anyway. I'll let you know how that wand works out.

Oh, and Wee Hob commandeered the box and the styrofoam peanuts to make a "lego guys battlefield." He is quite pleased.

But this is not getting my summer_of_giles stuff edited/ written. [livejournal.com profile] nwhepcat, will be in touch about Labor Day. And Thanks!

I came home to a super obscurely groovy surprise tonight. [livejournal.com profile] willowgreen sent me a box of stuff from her stash of "obscure grooviness." Wee Hob and I were both delighted, he even though he's been under the weather for a couple of days with an odd spring fever (with actual fever. He had to come home from school yesterday, and he came in today and mostly slept tonight, with brief stints of soup eating and a shower.)

Anyway, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] willowgreen for your generosity. Now I have to come up with something equally groovy for [livejournal.com profile] snarkysneak.

But at the moment, bedtime I think. For those of you staying up later, I highly recommend the next chapter in Malora's continuing epic, Never Say Remember. Her dialogue is perfect, understated but full of meaning, and damned funny when it needs to be. She is the poster child for why people should finish a draft before posting anything-- this story is so tightly crafted and beautifully done, so unlike mine. Don't get me wrong, mine has its moments. But it wanders a lot, and I am seeing, reading it to Wee Hob the past couple of nights, how much could and should be cut. Ah well. Information for next time.

Oh... my

Oh my. Lots of people I have never heard of have left me comments and friended me today. I just have a couple of minutes before I have to take Wee Hob to Boy Scouts, but I wanted to say a quick welcome and thanks to everyone for now, with the promise to respond individually later.

And, I will rectify this on the posts later and certainly on the headers in the second half, but I have been very remiss in not recognizing Wee Hob as listening beta extraordinare for Lost Boys.

He can't spell so well yet (he's not allowed to use naughty words, in fact, until he Can spell them correctly. The F word also will require from him 2 feet of parchment on the socio-linguistic- political-anthropological, etc. origins of the word.) But he listened to me read all this stuff aloud, some sections more than once. I caught more mistakes, repeated words, and stupid phrasings that way than all my lovely betas have, combined. If anyone wants to leave Wee Hob a comment here telling him how awesome he is, I'll read them to him tomorrow after school.

Um, yeah. I better get going. But-- thanks, everybody.

Hob
