It should come as no surprise that Rumplestiltkin is one. He's like Snape in a lot of interesting ways, and played by the brilliant Robert Carlyle. I slogged through the whole thing, but when I went back to re-watch, I mostly fast forwarded to his scenes. Fanfiction is where you can find all the implications and consequences, and more coherent plots. I really want to write something where he and Zelena reconcile (albeit uneasily) after the end of the series proper, but I feel guilty starting that when I have these WIPs hanging out there, and a good idea how to finish the Lost Boys sequel at least.
I also adore the Evil Queen as she changes over time-- that thread, at least, they didn't drop. After Henry grows up a little, I love him, too. Wish there had been more of him with his grandfather. There's a lovely deleted scene out there from the start of season 4, where Henry asks Rumple to take some memories from him. Everything the show should have been, but wasn't because they had to shoehorn more Disney characters into it.
I love the themes of redemption, and evil is not born but made, and the way love and family tie people together. I hated the way they made characters, particularly Rumple, morph into evil people again just because they needed it for their dubious plot purposes.
Glad to hear a friendly voice. I did post a new chapter of No Malicious Haunting and a stand alone that is basically that chapter and the next one in the story as a stand alone. I'm currently posting on FF.net, but I have an Archive of Our Own account. I'll start putting my more decent stuff there, too, eventually.
What have you been up to? How active is it here? Anyone you recommend I follow?
