It's the End of the World as We Know It

... and I do Not feel fine.

It should come as no surprise to long time friends that any company run like mine -- well, words fail me. In any case, we got bought today. I really should not have joked so much about how slaves have to be sold. Doubtless it's Karma.

I did Not get laid off today. Yet. But things are not looking good. Shame I can't get paid to write fanfic.

That is a Joke.

Not a great one, I admit. Never rains but it pours.

On the upside, Wee Hob has had 2 good days in a row.

Have been there; am in the middle of that right now. In two weeks I'll discover if I have a job or not under the New Insect Overlords. (This is Kent Brrrrrrockman!) The uncertainty is stressful. The change is stressful. *hugs*

Yeah, thanks. At least you have mad skillz, unlike yours truly, who knows just enough to be dangerous, and not in any of the skill sets they list for their development job openings on their website.

One bright spot, maybe, is that they have 17 developers in Salt Lake City using our ancient composition tool (Compuset.) So, either they intend us to continue on as we are and take new work with minimal adjustment to their system-- good. Or, they have people who can take over our jobs as soon as they get to converting them all over. Not sure which yet.....

If I do retain a job, it looks very much like the new company is sane and decent and the benefits absolutely rock compared to what we have. They might want to keep some of us just because we're a bargain, being so dreadfully underpaid. They could give us hefty raises and still probably not approach what they're paying their current people doing similar work....
