The Lux Aeterna part is new, and I was lucky to have the text near at hand when I hit upon using it. This was the scene Antenna asked me to add-- initially I skipped over it like a big coward because I didn't think I could do it. But the light thing seemed to take on new significance in the rewrite, and to apply to Giles and Spike pretty much equally. And of course, it really is the Latin prayer for the dead. Wish I knew if the Church of England does something similar, but I decided not to do any more research because this story is already over 3 years in the making....
And since this is my first and pretty much only fic (until the nano thing I'm working on now) you wouldn't have seen anything else of mine. I'm honored you're reading it now. Thanks for the comment. I'll try to get the rest edited and up this weekend.
And I've found the Lauridsen to be fantastic writing music-- sound just washes past you without distracting you with words-- unless you're fluent in Latin or French (i.e. the Dirait-on which you so kindly provided the text for, as I recall...)
