Ran across [livejournal.com profile] mini_nanowrimo the other day and decided to sign up. I am a single mom, after all, with responsibilities and, well, no life to speak of (see "single mom"). But 200 words a day is slightly less daunting and more realistic in my life than 1,667. And it's important to write every day, even if I crash and burn on this challenge, too.

Besides, the kinds of writing I want to do right now might be parts of unfinished stalled fics, as well as exploring new ideas. Yeah, I can write Anything, scramble it for the NaNoWriMo word count and go off along my merry way. But that's against the stated rules-- write an original 50,000 novel by the end of November. And Mini NaNoWriMo specifically allows everything from short stories and drabbles to ongoing works. I'm thinking, in addition to the habit of writing every day, this gives me the opportunity to Finish something, which has long been a weakness of mine.

And in other news, I got my hands on the Los Angeles Master Chorale's Lauridsen CD, and I got it its contents copied off onto my hard drive so I can listen to it at work all day and get those last 6 measures I'm having trouble with by osmosis.

I highly recommend this CD to anyone who finds this kind of music appealing, and if you're not sure that would be you, I'm downloading the middle movement of the Lux Aeterna (the only one that kind of stands alone) for your listening pleasure. A couple of days ago I mentioned the music of hope and healing, and this piece is the best example of that I've ever heard.

That link is Here.

Happy Halloween to all, in case I'm too busy tomorrow night to give proper greetings.
