Thanks. cmwinters had put out a challenge on her journal for Snape/Charity fic, and at the time I didn't think much about it. But when I was looking for a good thing for David to have seen of Snape's past, I reread that chapter and-- yeah. It's certainly possible. Even if they were casual friends, that scene would have been horrific, but if they had ever been intimate.... I hadn't even considered that she would know he'd killed Albus, but you're right.
I think David's gift/curse has left him with some unusually advanced information and experience. I deliberately left a gap in the timeline between 3 and 4 because I was writing him a little too old and wise, but I think if he's been getting flashes of insight all his life, most of it emotional in nature, he'd be more empathetic than your average teen.
And yeah, I liked how Severus is finally able to openly care for someone, where in the past he was always hiding behind layers of subterfuge.
