Ah-- another soon to be Giles fan. You'll soon be hooked. After you've got through Season 4, you can go read "Through a Glass" and know what the heck it's about. In the meantime, I envy you the experience of coming to the Buffyverse for the first time (and mourn with you that after about season 5, the fanfic is the best part of the fandom.)
