Thanks! I realize in "Real Life" someone as badly raised as Dudley would be nothing at all like this. But that's where I reach for my Oscar Wilde: "The good ended happily; the bad, unhappily. That is what fiction means." (Mrs. Malaprop, The Importance of Being Earnest. I think.)
I mostly got this backwards, having named a boy David, then wondered how he would have a connection to our ghost-- and I got this flash of an image-- and there was an outline. I'm pretty sure I couldn't maintain it to write more Dudders, but his son is a darling lad to write.
