I just read an amazing fic-- madqueenmab's "The Properties of Silver." See my rec at [livejournal.com profile] the_new_library here. If you think I'm using a few too many adjectives, well, you'd be right. But they're all well-deserved. This one's really a gem. It's a WIP, but being updated regularly. And even if nothing else ever gets posted on this, I'll never be sorry I read it. Go read, and leave a review. Tis the season to feed a deserving author's muse.

I agree completely with what you said on this story. The voice is unique and her quick trip through HBP and DH was flawlessly rendered. And thank you for asking for an easy link to the form for the New Library.

But apparently I missed some typos, including one I saw several times mocked on the f-list: "Malfoy Manner." It's now been corrected, but I noticed it on reread before it had been changed. Funny, there *are* some imperfections even now, but the freshness of the voice made me skip right part them, where usually those things cause me to give up quickly on a fic. Glad you enjoyed it, and I hope the author can keep performing up to this level (but maybe get a couple of betas on the case at some point.)

I have gotten to the point that I have three categories of stories--those that have so many errors and such a poor voice that I give up, those that have all the normal editing problems (especially "your" and "you're" which drives me crazy but if I stopped reading stories that make that error I would have nothing left to read) and those that are almost perfect, where I squee all over the author and make lots of complimentary comments. I didn't even notice the problems in this story because just like you I was enjoying Hermione crushing on Sirius (even while thinking "No! That's so WRONG!" because I never liked Sirius). ;-)

I hear you. I really think this one might have been a word processor correcting a typo (maner, maybe)-- those are really hard to spot after the fact because nothing flags.

And I put the link on my links page too, so feel free to drop by here and use the widget as well.

My pleasure entirely, and I hope you got some new readers out of it. Welcome, to my journal and LJ in general. I'll be by to friend you back in a minute. I don't know that I'm a cool kid (that would kinda be a first) but I am pleased to have some interesting friends and writer types on my flist. Many are Buffyverse folks, as that was the fandom that drew me to LJ, but I've made a fair few new pals now in the HP world.

Hope to see more "Properties" up soon, and I look forward to getting to know you better.

ps-- you've already got a good start on the coolness, with the name "mad_queen_mab".
