Life, and Work, and Friends List Cuts

Administrative matters first-- I just made a Friends List Cut. Mostly communities, or people who had never friended me back, or people I hadn't read or heard from in a long while. Or that I thought fell into one of those categories. However, my beloved and I have pretty well established that early onset Alzheimer's is a possibility where I am concerned. So if I de-friended you and you feel strongly about it, let me know. I just am not keeping up with reading these days and am getting pretty overwhelmed.
Next, work continues um-- adjectives fail me. Lots of reorganizing, lots of "the sacrifices you make now will lead us into the next decade of prosperity." They are merging with another company to get listed on the stock exchange sooner, and they have suspended our 401k match for the rest of the year to make the deal go through. I really thought we might all get the axe today-- there were lots of suits here. But no, just more smoke blown up our... well, never mind. Short version-- I have a nice shiny new resume, and I am pretty proud of it. Anyone who wants to see and mock, let me know and send me an email address and I'll put you on the google doc version of it.
Finally, things are going pretty well in hobgoblinn's life at the moment. I think I need to take suggestions for what to call my beloved though. So, comment with your oh so creative suggestions. Even if we can't make things work long term here, I have a really special friend, and we're both committed to keeping that, no matter what else may happen. It's really kind of neat.
Hope everyone else is doing well. I need to go start dinner, and write some application letters.

Date: 2008-09-10 12:27 am (UTC)Beloved... hmm... that is the question. What to call said individual? I'm always bad at nicknames. I was going to maybe subject something playing off Hobgoblin or Puck but... hmm. SO for significant other? The Bard? (Sorry, lame suggestions.)
Glad to hear you're doing ok.

Date: 2008-09-10 04:26 am (UTC)How romantic that you've found someone to love!
The merger talk is worrying, but you're ahead of it with the resume and applications. It could turn into a fantastic opportunity.

Date: 2008-09-10 01:37 pm (UTC)As for a name for your beloved, well it's been a looong time since I read A Midsummer Night's Dream, but I remember two character names from it: Snug and Cobweb.
Snug - that's what you guys are together. Safe and loving.
Cobweb - it's a cool name and cobwebs are beautiful, complex and very strong, like the best of relationships.
