Just a quick note for those following it that a self-beta'ed version of In Loco Parentis Ch10 has been posted here. Let me know what you think. [livejournal.com profile] snarkysneak, I decided to go ahead and post this one unbeta'ed-- if you'd like to try on the next chapter, or to take a stab at this one and have me edit, either will be great. We'll get together on a writing schedule soon.

Happy weekend to all

I'm only good for noticing spellling mistakes so didn't offer to beta.

Great chapter. :)

Considering some of the errors I'm still catching, I could use even that. You might take a look at my reply to the next comment down on this entry-- you might learn a lot, if you wanted to take it on.

Regardless, thanks for the feedback. Glad you enjoyed the long overdue installment.

I would like to volunteer my beta services for your story. I have some experience editing and proof-reading non-fictional writing. Also, I think I have a firm grasp of the canon details. On the negative side, I've never betaed anything before and English is not my native language.

I'd be happy to hear from you and discuss your expectations for a beta vs. my skills.

Hey,

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you-- been a crazy week. Your journal doesn't tell me very much about you-- where did you run across me? If you shoot me a private message with an email address, I'll add you to a representative chapter on google documents so you can see the kind of thing you can expect, and the kind of comments I got.

I really get two things from a beta. One is that they flag problem passages-- repetition/ too complex/ gaping plot holes, and I am challenged to rewrite and make it all better. The other is more just as a sanity check. After a creative burst, I tend to think "it's all crap" which is as unrealistic and untrue as "it's all perfect." Just having the beta read it and see what they don't flag or what they like helps balance that unproductive thought process.

I don't mind doing on the job training-- I was a new beta about 2 years ago, and most of what I do as a beta has been influenced by the different betas I've had over that time. If you're still interested, shoot me a PM and an email address and we can talk more.

Thanks.

Hello,

I've just been wondering if my PM has reached you. I've never used them before and so decided to ask you here, just in case.

Sorry; yes it's reached me, but it's been another wild week. I will answer your pm later, but at the moment a headache is eating my brain. Never fear-- I have not forgotten you. But my Beloved will be here tomorrow for the weekend, so don't hold your breath. Thanks.
