In other news, I have two page long starts to Giles stories, but something completely new and original has been sucking up the brain cells the past few weeks. Another reason I will burn, I suppose. I'll try to bang something out while wee hob is at Scout camp next month-- that's one of the reasons I chose the date I did, as it gave me that week of childlessness to focus on something, and then a few days after to edit it. Theoretically.

Hope everyone's well. I have a Harry Potter rec, for anyone who might have an interest. This is possibly one of the most beautiful pieces of fanfic I've ever read, and given some of the people on this very flist, that's saying quite a lot. Enjoy it. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/834017/1/

I read "The Buried Life" ages ago-- maybe as it was being posted? It's one of those stories that makes me rant sometimes that the fanfiction can be better than Rowling's own writing. Lovely story. Two thumbs up.

Good luck with your move and I hope it goes smoothly.

One thing I've noticed lately is that a lot of people are renting 'Pods' containers and filling them gradually rather than renting a Uhaul and trying to do it all in one day. I haven't looked into the cost yet, but I see so many people using them that they must be competitive.

Thanks for the rec. It is a good story. I have another rec for you although you may have already read it. Falling Further In by Kaz: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/532103/1/

Also can you tell me where I can find your stories archived?

Yeah, I'm going to use a "Two men and a truck" kind of company-- faster and cheaper in the long run, especially for a single mom with a pre teen boy who isn't yet quite strong enough to carry large boxes and furniture himself. I think it'll be okay. I don't have a lot of stuff, really; the main difficulty is clutter. And getting ALL the boxes packed before they show up, ready to carry them out.

As to FFI, I'm reading it now-- also quite lovely. I've been sort of linking off not only your "Favorite Stories" but those of the authors I admire. Amazing, what's out there. I'm kind of worried, though, since it doesn't look complete, and some of these very fine tales that have been abandoned since 2004 make me sad. I always swear I won't start WIP's, and then I always cave.

How are your WIPs coming, by the way?

I don't have many stories really, and as far as I know only one is archived at Of Demons and Destiny, a Giles-centric archive. Here are the first part links on my Live Journal, though-- each part has the link to the next at the end, and all are in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer fandom:

Summer (a look at the time between Buffy's death and her return, S5-6):

Shadows and Echoes
http://hobgoblinn.livejournal.com/30610.html

Through a Glass Darkly (for [livejournal.com profile] tenyearsofbuffy ficathon-- I'm most proud of this one, so far):
http://hobgoblinn.livejournal.com/24890.html

I've got a long first half of a Post Chosen Giles, Willow, ensemble story that I worked on last year for Nano, but I haven't had time or energy to return to it-- maybe next November. You can find links during the month of November on my journal-- it has its moments.

[livejournal.com profile] antennapedia has hooked me on writing "postmortems" of my fics, exploring what I learned and assessing how well I handled aspects of the craft I was trying to improve-- as a fellow writer, you might find them interesting (might find hers worthwhile, as well). Or, you know, not, but as insomnia remedies they also have a use.
